Mission Statement
The mission of the Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DDID) is to take the lead, in partnership with other key stakeholders, in building the capacity of communities and systems to provide individually determined supports for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families, that increase their opportunities for choice and inclusion as valued citizens of Kentucky's communities.
Description
The critical functions of the DDID include:
- Set the standards for best practice.
- Provide information and technical assistance.
- Acquire and disperse fiscal resources and administer grants and contracts.
- Monitor, evaluate and ensure accountability for outcomes for individuals.
It is the responsibility of DDID to provide an array of supports for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This is accomplished through contracting for services through the 14 Regional Boards and other qualified private providers.
Services that are funded by DDID and provided in varying degrees by each of the Regional Mental Retardation Centers and their affiliates include case management, residential services, vocational services, respite services, crisis intervention services, leisure and recreation services, in-home support, and habilitative services.
DDID comprises two branches the Supports for Community Living Waiver Branch and the Community Support Branch. Click their links in the Related Links box for more information.
